Lamington National Park

Lamington National Park

Lamington National Park, about an hour’s drive from Surfers Paradise, is known for its stunning rainforest landscape, numerous waterfalls, and unique fauna. The Lamington Plateau plunges into spectacular cliffs and gorges amid the lush highlands of the Border Ranges, remains of an old volcano.

With over 190 species to see, including beautifully colourful parrots and the rare bowerbird, called after the ornate arches they build and adorn to impress potential partners, birders will be in ecstasy. Red-necked pademelons and long-nosed bandicoots are among the other animals found here.

O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, a hotel and spa where you may also have a meal at the café, is reached by a winding uphill road. One of the most popular activities for couples to do on the Gold Coast is to spend the night at this romantic hideaway. Nature lovers may take the O’Reilly’s Tree Top Walk, a 180-meter series of suspension bridges stretched across the rainforest canopy, to explore the park.
